Mechanical Engineer | Defence Infrastructure

Join a high-profile infrastructure programme delivering complex engineering solutions within a secure and highly regulated environment. You'll play a key role in managing mechanical engineering activities, supporting design development, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery from concept through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• ⚙️ Lead and manage mechanical engineering activities across major infrastructure projects.
• 📐 Review and approve engineering designs, drawings and technical documentation.
• 💡 Support optioneering studies and development of innovative engineering solutions.
• 🤝 Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and key stakeholders.
• 🛡️ Support safety case development, hazard identification and risk management activities.
• 📝 Produce and review technical reports, assessments and engineering documentation.
• 🔍 Provide technical assurance of contractor methods, risk assessments and work packages.
• 🏗️ Oversee construction, installation and deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design requirements.
• 🚀 Support commissioning and decommissioning activities, ensuring operational readiness.
• ✅ Drive compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, Security and Quality standards.
• 🎓 Contribute to technical guidance, knowledge sharing and professional development initiatives.

Qualifications

🎯 What We're Looking For:

✅ Essential

• ⚙️ Mechanical engineering experience on complex projects.
• 🏗️ Experience working in safety-critical or high-hazard environments.
• 🔍 Design assurance, technical review and governance experience.
• 📈 Knowledge of the full engineering lifecycle, from design to commissioning.
• 🤝 Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
• 🔧 Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

⭐ Desirable

• 🛡️ Experience within Defence, nuclear or other highly regulated sectors.
• ⚠️ Knowledge of HAZID, HAZOP and safety case processes.
• 📚 Understanding of relevant engineering standards and regulations.
• 🚀 Experience supporting major infrastructure projects.

🎓 Qualifications

• 🎓 Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 🏅 Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
• ⭐ MSc or equivalent postgraduate qualification desirable.
